Janhyng series
Following her acclaimed performance MIRROR, which invited audiences to navigate the memories through multisensory immersion, Bongsu Park presents Janhyang — a new series that deepens her exploration of memory, time, and emotion.
Derived from the Korean word meaning "reverberation", Janhyang captures the lingering scents and echoes that remain after something has passed. These sensory residues become markers of existence — both ephemeral and emotionally resonant.
In this series, Park works with plants she has either brought from Korea or grown in her London home. Using natural dyeing techniques, she imprints these plants onto fabric, creating fragile yet potent visual memories. Each work includes an air-dried clay pot containing a unique scent — composed during the creation of the piece — evoking the emotional atmosphere of that particular moment in time.
The Janhyang works are not only visual or olfactory objects, but vessels of presence. Each piece becomes a quiet archive of process, recollection and intimacy — echoing Park’s ongoing investigation into the intersection of personal memory and sensory experience.
